Altona coach Corey McCall is gearing up for his first clash against St Albans this Saturday.

The Vikings haven’t played the Saints since 2019, with McCall and some players on the list, looking forward to their first meeting.

“How can we not be excited for Round 1, when we are fixtured at home,” McCall said.

“It will be different for me and some players on the list as it will be the first time, we have played St Albans.”

Altona ended last year’s shortened season as the minor premiers and have long been one of the benchmark teams in TIV Division 1.

This off-season, the club has been boasted by the addition of former Richmond and North Melbourne footballer Connor Menadue.

Elliot Cavallaro, who was named in the 2019 Team of the Year, will also return after a stint playing country footy.

“Altona aim to be more unpredictable and flexible (in 2022),” McCall said.

“The playing group have a great understanding of what we wish to achieve and the benefits that has as a collective.

“The commitment and growth of our Under-19 program, we are extremely proud of, and we are very excited to see the future of our club compete.”
