The WRFL is now taking applications for anyone who is interested in contributing to the League’s various media platforms in 2023.

If you are completing a media degree, have an interest in footy and/or netball and can meet deadlines, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Covering the western suburbs’ premier sporting competition, you can utilize the skills from your journalism/media degree and begin building a portfolio of published work as you take the next step in your media career.

As part of your role, you will gain valuable, hands-on experience by interviewing coaches and players each week as well as generating new story ideas throughout the season.

Writers will be doing reports for the WRFL website which includes previews and wraps of the three Senior Men Divisions, two Senior Women Divisions, Under 18.5’s Boys & Girls and Netball.

As a WRFL Volunteer Reporter, you will be required to produce a 300-350-word match report each week as well as adhere to strict deadlines. All reports will need to be submitted each Sunday at 7 pm.

The successful applicants will be reporting on matches played across Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays and will need to ensure they are available most weekends between April to September.

As part of the role, you will learn valuable skills throughout the season.

There is also an opportunity for budding photographers to join the media team.

The WRFL is looking for match-day photographers who can take photos of both the WRFL’s senior and junior competitions on weekends.

Please note, all positions are voluntary.

If you would like to get involved, please contact the WRFL team via email at info@wrfl.asn.au at your earliest possible convenience, with a brief summary of your experience and examples of work, contact details and why you believe you would be a beneficial addition to our team.
