2022 MANOR LAKES PREVIEW

By KEL ROWE

Long regarded a force of the VU Polytechinic Senior Women’s Competition, Manor Lakes are keen to continue to cement their reputation as a classy, attacking side in 2022.

The Manor Lakes women ended last season on a high, finishing on top of the ladder and claiming the Division 1 Minor Premiership when the season was cut short. Coach Mark De Girolamo looks forward to a renewed finals opportunity in 2022, reflecting that despite the winning finish many players were left with a hollow feeling.

“There were a few highlights for our club in 2021. Being Minor Premiers at the season end, having six of our playing group named in the Team of the Year. Being named Coach of the WRFL VU Polytechnic Senior Women’s Division 1 Team was a huge honour,” he said.

The Division 1 side are ready for a full season and will be sure to showcase their exciting brand of footy, against all their opponents.

“With the competition getting more and more even, on any given day all teams are capable of beating each other,” De Girolamo said.

“Player’s skill levels are improving year after year, and we look forward to an exciting year ahead.”

In his consistently strong line-up, De Girolamo notes that this year, Paras Mackenzie and Yana Frontczak will be players to watch — both women recorded standout seasons and featured in the 2021 Division 1 Team of the Year.

As they prepare to launch their 2022 campaign, De Girolamo is encouraging his group to enjoy their footy, have fun and do their best.

Manor Lakes take on Werribee Centrals on Friday 8 April at Galvin Park.
