2022 PARKSIDE PREVIEW

Parkside and Wyndhamvale last played against one another in Round 15 last year. Unbeknownst to both teams it was the final match of the 2021 season, with the Falcons claiming a 37-point win and the minor premiership along the away.

The two will renew their rivalry in Round 1 with Parkside coach Chris Muratore saying it’s the perfect way to begin their 2022 campaign.

“It’s exciting,” Muratore said.

“Parkside and Wyndhamvale have been rivals for about 15 years. We have respect for each other off the field and hate each other on it.

“We are two successful clubs, two teams with good lists, it is the perfect way to start the season.”

Muratore said this pre-season was about focusing on what they are good at as they hope to take another step in Division 2.

“We are working on our systems and what we have been trying to implement over the past six-to-eight months,” he said.

“We want to go to the next level. We are excited to have players like Jackson Lesko and Brent Kelly back on the park.”

Like many of his counterparts, Muratore believes there won’t be any ‘easy’ games in Division 2 this season.

“The competition is the strongest on paper I have seen,” he said.

“There are no easy beats, no easy games of football, which is good thing. When you have 40-50 players that can go through the motions if they think they are going to win, so you have to be ready to play.”

Wyndhamvale host Parkside on Saturday. The game is the WRFL Match of the Day on 88.9 WYN FM. The broadcast begins at 1.30pm.
