2022 YARRAVILLE SEDDON EAGLES PREVIEW
The Eagles jumped into the TIV Division 1 deep end last season and with another pre-season under their belt, are hoping to continue to be competitive against the WRFL’s premier teams.
Brad Julier is back on board for another year at Yarraville and like many others across the league, is keen to get stuck into the 2022 season.
“This pre-season has been about getting the boys back together after two interrupted years,” he said.
“We just wanted to bring the enjoyment back into footy and hope that we can play a full season.”
Last season, Yarraville Seddon scored three wins from 12 matches.
“We are looking to build on last year and that experience the younger players had and progressing this season,” Julier said.
“We have tried to keep the side together and give the juniors and younger guys opportunities. We want to be able to promote the youth.”
The Yarraville Seddon Eagles will go head-to-head with Spotswood in Round 1 on April 2 at Yarraville Oval.

Pete Lazzaro’s Eagles are using the frustration of a cut-short season to fuel their preparation for debut in Victoria University Polytechnic Senior Women’s Division 1 in 2022.
Not satisfied with a second-place finish in 2021, Yarraville Seddon have been building their effort and intensity at training — ready to take on the challenge of a fresh season.
Back at the helm as coach, Lazzaro sights the return to footy in 2021 as a highlight, along with strong performances against the top four sides. But most of all, he was impressed with ‘the Eagles’ never-give-up attitude and their ability to fight games out for four quarters, every week.’
“We’re looking forward to playing all the Division 1 teams, as they all performed well in 2021, so we see the season as a challenge, but one we have prepared well for,” he said.
In Season 2021, the Yarraville Seddon Eagles side showcased their competitive brand of footy, and were rewarded for effort, with five players named in the Division 2 Team of the Year — including Melanie Thompson-Allen as Captain and featuring equal Leading Goal Kicker Brittany Salt. Lazzaro expects to see this good form continue.
Just weeks out from their Round 1 hit-out, the Eagles are bringing the promise of competitive performances, an even team effort and high intensity around the football.
