2023 COACH SIGNINGS

ALBION

Albion has appointed Blake Richards as their new senior coach for the 2023 Division 2 season.

A former junior player with the Cats, Richards is making his return to JR Parsons Reserve.

He played at Albion for more than a decade and was a player in their 2010 premiership team. Most recently Richards was involved as a player and coach at Caroline Springs, having coached the Reserves side to a 2018 Grand Final appearance and the 2019 Semi Final.

“Blake brings a wealth of experience and knowledge back to Albion and is looking forward to getting stuck into pre-season,” the club said.

“Congratulations Blake, it is great to have you home.”

As well as signing Richards, the club has also announced a host of re-signings, including club Best and Fairest winner Darcy McPherson Division 2 Leading Goal Kicker Ben Doll.

BRAYBROOK

Premiership coach John Mangos has been appointed coach of Braybrook for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Mangos was the assistant coach this season, however, stepped up to Senior Coach position for their three finals games, leading the Brookers to a premiership in Alan Mance Motors Division 3.

“John’s professionalism, preparation leading into must win games and his communication with the playing group was second to none,” the club said.

“John will be proudly leading the club back into Division 2 next season. Three wins from three games, you couldn’t ask for a better job interview.

“We can’t wait to see what he can do with our list over two seasons.”

The club has also begun announcing re-signings for next season. They include Nicholas Papakalodoukas, Ricky Howell, Jayden Hoskin-Elliot and Caiden Vorano.

DEER PARK

Heath Scotland will coach Deer Park next season.

The club announced he will take over from Mark McGoldrick in 2023 back in August.

GLEN ORDEN 

Glen Orden has locked in coach Nathan Moon for his second season in charge of the Hawks’ Senior side.

Glen Orden finished the Division 2 season in seventh spot on the ladder having won six games.

LAVERTON

Laverton has re-appointed Tony Jofre for the 2023 Alan Mance Motors Division 3 season – it will be his second season in charge at the Magpies.

“Tony has spent this year developing our club on-and-off the field and we cannot wait to see what next year has in store,” the club said.

“Focusing on developing the right culture at our club to seek success.”

NORTH SUNSHINE 

Andrew Scimone has been re-appointed coach of North Sunshine for the 2023 Alan Mance Motors Division 3 season.

It will be the second season, Scimone will oversee the senior side, having coached the Roadrunners this year.

POINT COOK

Clay Smith is set to take over from Brett Jacobs as coach of Point Cook for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Smith was the senior assistant coach under Jacobs this season, but will step up into the senior coach role next season.

“Clay is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for the club and this young and emerging playing group in the coming years,” the said.

POINT COOK CENTRALS

Premiership coach Dean Chambers will lead Point Cook Centrals next season, with the club announcing he will lead the senior side in 2023.

The Sharks coach has not lost a game since beginning his tenure with the club, winning 20 straight games in 2022, including the Division 2 Grand Final against Parkside last month.

Point Cook Centrals has also announced the re-signings of several premiership players, including captains Kurt Mayne and Nathan Williams.

Kwar Ater, Lachlan Grant, Brent Turner, Kieran Corrigan, Luke Henderson, Mitch Palma, Haidyn Shade and Aaron Willoams have also committed to the club.

Former Sunshine player Harrison Minett has also been announced as a new Sharks recruit.

ST ALBANS 

St Albans have re-appointed Zammy Muhtari as Senior Coach. He led them to five wins in his first season at the helm.

SUNS

The Suns Football Club has announced the re-appointment of Dean Cachia as coach for the 2023 season.

Cachia, who won the prestigious WRFL Senior Coach of the Year award, commenced his tenure as coach of the club in 2018.

The Suns feel agonisingly short in the Alan Mance Motors Division 3 Premiership, having lost to Braybrook by two-points in the decider.

The club has announced some key signings ahead of next season, none bigger than the return of Daniel Hovey.

Hovey was a joint winner of the 2017 Ron and Thelma Angwin medal.

Other re-signings include; Adam Scarpino, John Tomelty, Paul Tomelty, Blake Jago, Chris Lear, Jarrod Vella, Nathan Halapio, Rhys Carr, Peter Tomelty, Cameron Joyce and Luke Cachia.

SUNSHINE

Sunshine have appointed Ben Chapman as it’s new Senior Coach.

“The football club embarked on a lengthy process to appoint our Senior Coach, having a clear vision and path – and Ben’s energy, passion and extensive knowledge for football made him the perfect fit for the role,” the club said.

SUNSHINE HEIGHTS

Sunshine Heights has re-appointed Colby Blyth for the 2023 season.

This year was his first in charge at the Dragons, leading them to a finals appearance.

TARNEIT 

Brent Sheean will again coach Tarneit in 2023, with the club announcing earlier this year that he will continue in the role for another season.

“The committee and playing group alike are rapt with the drive, passion and vision Brent has for the Titans and we are excited to see what our new era will continue to bring.”

WEST FOOTSCRAY

Troy Beamond has been appointed coach of the Roosters for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

The 2015 Senior Coach of the Year winner will take over from Ian Fox, who has led the Senior Men’s side for the past two seasons.

“Troy comes to us with a proven record — promoting a culture of success, professionalism and youth development — his coaching experience will be an asset to the club as a whole,” the club said.

“This is great news for the future of the West Footscray Football Club as we move into an exciting period of footy, that will see our strong Junior program graduate into Senior football.”

West Footscray has also re-signed Kane Liossis, Hayden Bray, Oscar Day, David Gilbert, Jordan Jobling, Ethan Murphy, Jimmy Pham, EJ Sharp, David Tonini, Lachlan Fox, Liam Grant, Diesel Lim, Tom Stelluto and Eyob Gaberelassie.

The club has also announced Kayne Wouters as a new signing. He comes from the Cygnet Football Club in the Southern Football League in Tasmania.

WYNDHAMVALE

Wyndhamvale will have co-coaches leading the team in 2023, with the club announcing Rob May and Jason Parker have been appointed to the role.

The duo takes over from Luke Wenlock.
