2023 MVP AWARD

For the first time in the history of the WRFL MVP Award, we have a three-way tie.

Hoppers Crossing’s Ashlin Brown, Point Cook’s Daniel Burton and from the Yarraville Seddon Eagles’ Michael Selsby have all tied on 12 votes for the 2023 MVP Award.

Now in its 12th year, the Most Valuable Player recognises the WRFL’s best overall senior player in the Division 1 competition.

Using the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 system, coaches voted for the players that were not necessarily the ‘best player,’ but one who embodies leadership, versatility, ability to play under pressure, skill and courage, respect for all umpires and overall value to their team.

This is the second-straight year, Brown has won the award. Brown, Burton and Selsby have all had impressive seasons with their respective teams.
