2023 ROOKIE ME OPEN DAY
You have been invited to participate in the 2023 Rookie Me Open Day.
An exciting opportunity with our new partner Rookie Me has been presented to support your football development.
This is an external one-day event hosted by Rookie Me, providing an exciting opportunity to WIN a scholarship to attend the 2023 Rookie Me Academy, consisting of four development camps held during the school holidays.
The Rookie Me Academy assists your football development outside of the league and club atmosphere to accelerate your growth.
WRFL has partnered with Rookie Me who have established themselves as the premier program to engage, develop and identify talent. This partnership further complements and strengthens your opportunities in the footy landscape.
- SPECIAL GUESTS
Our open days incorporate all the exclusive experiences, which our Academy footballers are exposed to during the program, such as special guests. These include AFL/AFLW past and present players, coaches and personnel.
- SCHOLARSHIP GIVEAWAY
Open Day offers participants the chance to experience a snapshot of the Academy AND WIN a full scholarship into our program. Overall, the coaches look for outstanding performance in all areas of the coaching criteria, over the course of the day and announce the scholarship recipients at the end of the event.
- DISCOVER THE CURRICULUM
The Rookie Me Curriculum has broken down the education behind being a footballer, an athlete and a leader, into 12 development modules. These modules are taught through online programs, player/parent engagement, and face-to-face practical experiences. Each camp offers new insight, learning experiences and discovery.
- MEET THE COACHES
The Rookie Me Academy coaching team has coached over 10,000 football players since its inception. The range of expertise starts from junior (grass roots) to talent pathways, to elite AFL/AFLW level, consisting of specialty coaches across our key education areas in Football, Leadership and High Performance.
- FOOTBALL
Experience a mixture of football skill and game-sense activities through relevant games, techniques and training. Participants will even have the chance to compete against the current Rookie Me Academy players.
Scholarship criteria:
- Willingness to compete.
- Ability to think through different game situations.
- Execute the fundamentals of the game
- LEADERSHIP
Engage in a snapshot of fun activities which explore strong communication, willingness to work with others; displaying a positive attitude with enthusiasm towards learning and personal growth.
Scholarship criteria:
- Showing self-discipline and motivation.
- Working independently and in a team environment.
- Pushing limits & stepping outside of their comfort zone.
- HIGH PERFORMANCE
Concentrating on the elements to develop and educate an athlete through prep. Also, all attendants have the opportunity to run through an official AFL/AFLW combine experience to test their athletic ability.
Scholarship criteria:
- Athletic ability.
- Effort and intensity.
- Displaying camaraderie.
BONUS criteria (optional):
- Submission of written Self Character Assessment.
- Supportive character references, from a team coach/teacher or mentor.
