2023 WRFL MEN’S FIXTURE’S RELEASED
Hoppers Crossing will host Point Cook and Albion will do battle with Sunshine in a blockbuster Good Friday fixture on April 7, opening the 2023 Western Region Football League season.
The WRFL revealed the TIV Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3 Men’s fixtures today, with a number of key matches to look forward to.
With just over 100 days until the first bounce, the 2023 season promises to be one of the most competitive seasons to date.
While we have two matches scheduled for Good Friday, Round 1 will officially kick-off on April 15 for all Men’s competitions.
It will be the battle of Point Cook in the opening round of TIV Division 1 as newly promoted Point Cook Centrals unfurls their Premiership flag in an exciting clash with neighbours Point Cook.
Werribee Districts and Hoppers Crossing will renew their rivalry on Anzac Day, a much-anticipated match.
Altona will proudly unfurl its TIV Division 1 Premiership flag in Round 2, when they go head-to-head with Spotswood at Simonds Oval.
Braybrook will also mark its promotion to Division 2 when they celebrate their first home game at Pennell Reserve in Round 2 against Albion.
Another marquee match in 2023 will be between the Yarraville Seddon Eagles and Point Cook on the King’s Birthday weekend. The two teams are fixtured to play on Saturday, June 10 at Yarraville Oval.
As TIV Division 1 becomes and eight-team competition, the finals system will see a change to a top-four finals system from a top-five finals system.
This will see first play second in a Second Semi Final, with the winner earning a week off and a spot in the Grand Final. The loser will play the winner of the First Semi Final between third and fourth in the Preliminary Final.
The TIV Division 1 and Division 3 Grand Finals are scheduled for the weekend of September 16 and 17.
The Division 2 Grand Final will be played on the weekend of September 9 and 10.
The WRFL Junior competitions will start on April 16, with the Victoria University Polytechnic Senior Women’s competition slated to begin that same weekend.
The 2023 Victoria University Netball competition will begin on April 28.
Senior Women’s, Under 18, Juniors and Netball Fixtures will be released in the new year, once team numbers have been confirmed.
