PLAYERS OF THE MONTH – JULY

The St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee Senior Women’s and TIV Division 1 Senior Men’s Player of the Month awards for July have been claimed by Akec Makur Chuot of Yarraville Seddon and Spotswood’s James Cleaver.

Makur Chuot has proven an outstanding pick up for Yarraville Seddon playing predominately through the midfield and on the wing and she continued her strong form in July finishing amongst her side’s best players on two occasions as they Eagles secured two wins from three games. Her athleticism has been a feature of her play in 2025 while Makur Chuot’s previous AFLW experience has been crucial for the Eagles who can confirm their place in the finals with victory over Suns this weekend.

Spotswood is on track to play finals football for the first time since 2019 and Cleaver is a key reason for that. Following on from a brilliant June, Cleaver was named in the Woodsmen’s best two players in their first three games in July while also being a solid contributor in their third win of the month against finals hopefuls Altona. In four outings, Cleaver averaged 25 disposals, seven clearances, almost eight score involvements and 122 ranking points per game in July.
