WARRIORS WIN IN COMMANDING DISPLAY

Round 10 of the Western Region Football League TIV Competition saw two complete performances from two sides with definite premiership aspirations. In the more surprising result of the two games played over the weekend, Hoppers Crossing kept Werribee scoreless in a defensive master-class.

After a slow first half with a score-line more akin to a rugby game, the contest seemed quite tense. However, after establishing a 31-point lead at three quarter time, the Warriors were then eventually able to run away with the victory, and kick six goals in a final-term blitz.

Radwan Haddara was a star for the visitors, as he piled on three goals in what was a commanding display, while Brendan Neville was a vital influence in the resounding victory.

In the other game played in Round 10, Caroline Springs made a statement and dumped more misery on Point Cook, with a comprehensive 114-point thrashing over the Bulldogs.

The Lakers set the tone from the opening bounce, establishing a 36-point quarter time lead, which the Bulldogs were never able to recover from. The potent forward line of the Lakers was in full display, as Riley Turner kicked five majors, and Layton Raffaele kicked four in the 19.14. (128) to 2.2. (14) victory.

Jy Lambley and Jack Taylor were also highly influential for the home side in the victory.

In what was a miserable day for the visitors, the tireless efforts of Sean Sturrock and Jake Meiers were a rare shining light.

Altona had the bye, yet remain at the top of the ladder, when they resume their season against fellow premiership aspirant Caroline Springs.

A further look at the ladder reveals Altona, Caroline Springs and Hoppers Crossing locked in a battle for the minor premiership, while Werribee Districts and Point Cook are some way off the pace as we approach Round 11.
