CENTRALS BOUNCE BACK

Round 3 brought with it a weekend of all seasons, starting with a Friday night deluge — weathered by the Division 1 and 2 openers — Werribee Centrals hosted Division 1 rivals Caroline Springs, while North Sunshine trekked out to meet Point Cook.

The Centurions looked to be outdone by their visitors, until Larissa Renaut fired late in the fourth term, edging her side in front. By the final siren, Werribee Centrals had clinched a nine-point win over the Lakers Division 1 side.

Over at Saltwater Reserve, Division 2 sides Point Cook and North Sunshine found themselves in similar slippery conditions. The Doggies put on a dominant display on home turf, registering a whopping 102-point win — from 10 individual goal kickers.

Saturday morning held an early start for Yarraville Seddon and Hoppers Crossing, with the Eagles securing an 18-point win by the final siren. Tamara-Jane Lovett kicked two for the home side and was named in best, while Jade Murrell stood strong for the Warriors.

Braybrook/Albanvale hosted Caroline Springs at Robert Bruce Oval, with the Lakers running over the home side for a 91-point victory. Shanae Peterson and Keren Suleiman each kicked three for the Lakers.

Out at Laverton Park, Point Cook Centrals held their hosts scoreless, locking in a huge 175-point win. The Magpies defensive line were unable to stem the flow, with the Sharks players Emma Quinn and Jen Plumb particularly dangerous in front of goals each kicking six.

Rounding out the weekend, Wyndhamvale Falcons hosted West Footscray, with the Roosters registering a 63-point win over their hosts. Falcon Mariah Burton was strong under pressure, whilst Emily Gillespie and Tanya Anthony each kicked four for their side.
