YOUNG ROOSTERS STEPPING UP
It’s been a hard-fought season for the Senior Men at the West Footscray Football Club. A consequence of pandemic-induced illness and injury — one that has put enormous pressure on the squad to field a full and healthy side each week.
However, despite the results, there has been a silver lining for the club. For the first time in a number of years, West Footscray is fielding an Under 18’s team.
Though the new team is made up primarily of first year players, eight players have already made their senior debut; showing despite their age, an ability to perform at senior level.
In recent weeks, during their bye round, five Under 18 players took up the call and ran out for the Senior side; impressing supporters on the Shorten Reserve boundary with a glimpse of their promising future.
