LAKERS AND SPURS STUN CENTRALS AND SUNS

Round 10 of the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee Senior Women’s competition saw major upsets and Pride celebrated between some familiar rivals.
The weekend included Parkside surprising the Suns and Caroline Springs ending Werribee Centrals’ unbeaten run at home, as only percentage now separates the competition’s top four sides.
On Friday night Caroline Springs took it to ladder-leaders Werribee Centrals, ending the Centurions streak of home wins with a 13-point triumph.
The hosts opened up an early lead, but after the halftime break the Lakers surged, kicking away to secure the win.
Hannah Davis and Taylah Lea were instrumental for Caroline Springs, while Keely Spiteri and Georgia Paul were named in the best players for Werribee Centrals.
On Saturday morning, Wyndhamvale hosted Laverton, downing the Magpies by 57-points at Wyndhamvale South Reserve.
Mariah Burton and Harmoni Fonua led the Falcons’ charge, with Rachael Burton bagging four goals in the win.
Ruth Walker and Ashleigh Pearson worked hard all day with both also hitting the scoreboard for Laverton.
In another surprise upset, Parkside knocked off the Suns on the opposition’s home turf, claiming a decisive 61-point victory.
Rita Ceravolo and Taquila Angel starred for the Spurs, with Captain Aleisha Casley kicking five majors for her side.
Jasmine Biggs and Emily Evans were named amongst the best for Suns.
To round out the weekend, West Footscray and North Sunshine celebrated their annual Pride Game in a twilight hit-out at Shorten Reserve, with the Roosters running out 101-point victors.
Amy Duggan and Dannielle Menzies gave their all for the visiting side but were unable to stop the Roosters, who were bolstered by the goal-kicking efforts of Krystyn Raymundo (five goals) and Ashlee Carey (three goals).
