23RD PLAYERS NAMED FOR FINAL TIME
Saturday 10th August will see a number of clubs take advantage of the 23rd player rule for the final time in 2024.
The 23rd player rule allows a player who turns 19 (in 2024) or aged younger – who is yet to play three or more senior (first 18) career games – feature as the 23rd player on their respective club’s senior team.
The rule was introduced at the beginning of 2020 and first implemented in the 2021 season.
A player’s points allocation under the AFL Victoria Community Club Sustainability Program shall not count towards his team’s points total when that player is playing as a 23rd player.
Eight clubs across TIV Division 1 Men’s and the Division 2 Men’s competitions have picked a 23rd player to line-up in their senior side this weekend.
