WERRIBEE CENTRALS CLAIM MINOR PREMIERSHIP
The final round of the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee Senior Women’s competition threw up few surprises with results going to plan for three of the top four sides.
Werribee Centrals locked in top spot and the minor premiership with a 16-point win against Parkside at Merv Hughes Oval.
The Centurions trailed by five points at the main break but kicked five goals to two in the second half to secure a 7.7 (49) to 5.3 (33) victory.
Larissa Renaut was a key contributor kicked a game-high four goals to end the home and away season as the competition’s leading goal kicker with 57 majors.
Abuk Akec and Keely Spiteri were brilliant for the visitors with Taquila Angel and Brooke Hards leading the way for the hosts.
Caroline Springs also booked a double chance thanks to a 157-point win over Laverton, to remain second on the ladder.
Jacinta Kondis bagged nine of the Lakers’ 23 majors in a best on ground performance at Dempster Park and in doing so surpassed 50 goals for the season.
Alana Ellis and Charlize Sindoni were amongst the best for Caroline Springs while Nikki Eustace and Mira Holland were the top performers for the Magpies.
At Goddard Street Reserve the home side Suns enjoyed a big morning downing Wyndhamvale by 126 points.
Sharni Currie, with a season-best six goals, was one of five players to kick multiple majors for the winning side.
Mandy Seath in her 150th game milestone was also among the goal scorers ending the day with four majors.
Chloe Prior finished off a strong campaign by being named the Falcons’ best player alongside Angel Noone.
Yarraville Seddon capped off their season on a positive note defeating North Sunshine by 55 points in a twilight fixture at home.
The Eagles were never troubled by the Roadrunners on their way to a fourth consecutive win to close out the year.
Rachel Culvenor and Kamala Cemeljic starred for the hosts with Amy Duggan and Zoe Doherty trying hard for North Sunshine.
This weekend’s semi finals pit Werribee Centrals against Caroline Springs for a spot in the grand final, while Suns and Parkside face off with the winner moving onto the preliminary final.
