Just three matches played out over the weekend in Round 9 of the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee Senior Women’s competition.
West Footscray welcomed the Parkside Spurs to Skinner Reserve on Saturday morning for their second meeting of the season.
Despite a valiant effort from the Roosters, the Spurs finished the day as victors, with a 56-point win.
Spurs sharpshooter Mary Sandral was dangerous in front of goal with two majors, whilst Natalie Pearce and Giselle Lambley were dominant moving the ball into their forward line.
West Footscray skipper Kathleen Gannon worked hard through the middle of the ground, whilst Kaila Ducret and Nittaya Hudson maintained a solid presence in defence.
The Falcons went head-to-head with the Suns at Wyndhamvale South Oval, with the visitors winning by 68 points.
The game marked Sun Bonnie Lea Brown’s 100-game milestone, who along with teammate Alexis Madden (one goal) and Lyndal Ridder were amongst the Suns’ best.
Wyndhamvale’s Harper Sell was the home side’s lone goal scorer.
To complete the fixture for the day, Point Cook Centrals hosted Caroline Springs, with the ladder leaders ousting the Sharks by 118 points.
Lakers’ captain Caitlin Pretty led the way for her team and was best on ground alongside Mira Diab, while in attack there were season best hauls for Jacinta Kondis (eight goals) and Nikki Perrett (four).
Charli Sette (one goal), Keshena Kinkaid (one goal) and Nya Chuol all played well for the Sharks.
With her dominant display in front of the big sticks, Kondis reclaimed top spot on the goal kicking leaderboard with seven rounds still to play.
