TOP FOUR FIRE IN PENULTIMATE ROUND

By Kel Rowe |

The penultimate round of the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee Senior Women’s competition saw the tops sides lock in big scores and a leading goal kicker tear away from the pack.

To start the round West Footscray ventured down the highway for some Friday night footy, taking on Werribee Centrals at Galvin Park.

Despite producing some competitive footy, the Centurions were too much for the plucky Roosters, claiming a 65-point win.

For the home team Paige Cook was impressive through the middle of the ground, whilst teammate Kyleisha Kinces kicked three majors, with each named in the best.

Emmy Hudson and Kel Rowe worked hard for the visitors.

Caroline Springs made short work of North Sunshine, over-running the home side at Dempster Park on Saturday morning, by a huge 225 points.

Jacinta Kondis kicked a whopping 15-goals for the Lakers to be one of the standouts alongside teammate Nyomi Stowers with the defender also getting her name on the scoreboard.

With her nearest challenger 27 majors away, Kondis looks all but set to claim this year’s leading goal kicker honours.

Kelly Wade, Amy Duggan were stoic for the Roadrunners under enormous pressure.

Yarraville Seddon cruised to an 83-point victory over the Suns out at Goddard Street Reserve.

Ruby Jones (four goals) and Maggie Logan starred for the Eagles finishing amongst their top performers.

Emily Evans and Isabella Cutajar were the leading contributors for the home side, with the latter kicking their lone major.

To complete the fixture, Parkside Spurs continued their dominance heading into the final round, with a 129-point win on the road against Point Cook Centrals.

Leading the way for the Spurs was Lisa Mezzatesta and Mary Sandral with Sandral bagging eight goals for the day.

Jenna Hurring and Ruby Hogan were best on for the Sharks.
