FINN DAVIS PICKED BY GIANTS IN AFL DRAFT
Williamstown Juniors product Finn Davis has realised every young footballers dream being selected by Greater Western Sydney in the 2025 AFL National Draft.
The Giants drafted Davis, a 188cm medium defender with the second of their three picks, the 51st overall selection.
Davis played all his junior football with Williamstown Juniors in the Western Football Netball League and featured in junior interleague squads in Under 14 and Under 15 age groups.
He went on to represent the Western Jets and Vic Metro at both Under 16 and Under 18 level and gained the attention of recruiters with a brilliant final year of underage football.
In the Coates Talent League this season he averaged 27.7 disposals, six marks, and 6.4 rebound 50s per game and finished runner-up in the Jets’ best and fairest, as well as impressing in the Under 18 National Championships.
After selecting Davis, GWS Head of Talent Adrian Caruso said they loved the balance he can provide in terms of defensive shutdown ability and offensive drive.
“What we like most about Finn was his ability to get a job done when asked of him, but also show the creativity and ball use when used as a set-up player,” Caruso said.
“He adds to the young mix of backs we’ve brought in over recent years.”
The Giants have assigned Davis jumper number 45 for his debut season in 2026.
Meanwhile, despite not being picked in the National or Rookie drafts, a pair of Western Jets teammates of Davis and fellow WFNL products are now training with Richmond and St Kilda.
Thomas Burton (Point Cook) and Oskar Ainsworth (Williamstown Juniors) will audition with the Tigers and Saints respectively over the summer with the potential to earn a list spot as pre-season supplementary selection period (SSP) signings.
