SECOND OPPORTUNITY FOR 23RD PLAYERS IN ROUND 7
The 23rd player rule will be in play for the second time in 2026 across senior football, during Round 7 on Saturday 23rd May.
The 23rd player rule allows for players who turn 19 this year, or who are aged younger, to feature on their club’s respective senior team if they haven’t contested more than three senior matches already.
First introduced in 2020 and implemented into WFNL playing conditions in 2021, the 23rd player rule allows for young and upcoming talents to shine at the highest level of football in the WFNL.
Thirteen clubs across TIV Division 1 and Division 2 have elected a 23rd player to feature in their side’s line-up in Round 7. Following this weekend there will be two further opportunities for clubs to utilise the 23rd player rule.
