WFNL Match of the Day will head to Yarraville Oval for a St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee Senior Women clash between Yarraville Seddon and West Footscray, the first Match of the Day of its kind for the league.
With one last spot in the top four still up for grabs, both the Eagles and Roosters remain in contention alongside the Suns and Laverton Magpies.
It’s shaping up to be an exciting battle between the fourth-place Eagles and fifth-place Roosters who both hold 7-6 records.
When the sides last met in Round Seven, it was Yarraville Seddon that was victorious, taking home the chocolates in a 12.10 (82) to 1.1 (7) runover.
West Footscray went down by two goals against Werribee Centrals last weekend.
Captain Layla Dawkins continued her stellar season by kicking the side’s only major of the match, taking her season tally to 22 in addition to being named best-on in 11 out of 13 appearances.
The Roosters will look to dig deep for some goalkicking attack.
Juri Gravo-Ilves hauled a staggering bag of nine goals two weeks ago but was held dormant last weekend alongside Emily Gillespie, who has kicked five goals on three separate occasions this season.
If the puzzle pieces can come together, it will certainly help boost West Footscray chances.
But will Yarraville Seddon’s momentum continue following its 91-point thumping over Caroline Springs?
Katelyn Kissack led the match with three goals, with Ruby Colebatch, a Sandringham Dragons young gun in the AFL Talent League matching her efforts.
Pippa Nolan has been very exciting recently, kicking two goals against the Lakers and has been named best-on in seven matches.
The Eagles will look to replicate their efforts that were on show in Round Seven’s thumping victory over the Roosters.
With these two strong sides going head-to-head on Saturday, who will walk away victorious and move one step closer to a top four finish?
