Division Two Deciders: Grand Final Reviews and Results

NORTH FOOTSCRAY 14.8 (92) def. WYNDHAMVALE 8.8 (56)
North Footscray capped off its outstanding 2026 season with a 36-point victory over Wyndhamvale in the Division Two Grand Final at Yarraville Oval.
In what was a rematch of last year’s decider, both sides were raring to put their hands on the premiership cup with promotion to TIV Division One back on the line.
Wyndhamvale was seeking back-to back premierships while the Devils were looking to win their first flag since 2017.
With a strong wind sweeping down on Yarraville Oval, the Devils won the toss and without hesitation chose to kick with the wind behind them, a move that would see them take charge at quarter time 6.2 (38) to 1.2 (8).
It would then be the Falcons’ turn to see what they could make of the wind, but after winning the second term 4.1 (25) to 1.0 (6), the Falcons still trailed by 11 points at the major break.
The Falcons’ resurgence was of no concern to the Devils whatsoever, with North Footscray returning to the field to win the second half 7.6 (48) to 3.5 (23).
Former AFL star Lynden Dunn was one of the standouts in the contest, scoring three goals and shining in attacking fifty time and time again, with teammates constantly making him their target right across the forward fifty.
Dunn was one of ten Devils to hit the scoreboard with majors, with Jarrod Johns and Matthew Serafin both kicking two apiece.
Named the best-on-ground, Devils’ captain Adam Petridis also put a goal on the board and was a major part of his sides’ ability to quickly move the Sherrin down the field.
There was also a fascinating ruck battle taking place, with the Devils’ Mason Jacob and Archie Thomson taking turns to lock horns with Wyndhamvale’s Damon Stephens, a Falcon whose efforts were felt in more than just the ruck contests, with Stephens also winning many important possessions across the ground.
While it was a tough day at the office, Wyndhamvale didn’t give up without a fight.
Noah Cooney and Liam Scarborough both scored twice for the Falcons, with the two creative forward players putting on a clinic in ball movement.
Cameron Morrison was another influential Falcon in steering the play’s movement and initiating the Falcons’ attack.
Kyle Bistisi and Ryan Tyson both threw their bodies into the action, especially in the last line of defence, looking to prevent as many North Footscray scores as possible.
Wyndhamvale stood up to the challenge of North Footscray’s fast and physical brand of footy, with the Falcons always doing their best to force the ball forward.
While its dreams of going back-to-back may have been quashed, Wyndhamvale bows out the 2026 season as being one of the benchmark teams that’ll look to reignite in 2027.
It’s promotion for North Footscray, with the Devils set to call TIV Division One home for the first time since 2013.
Division Two Reserves
NORTH FOOTSCRAY 8.14 (62) def. by WYNDHAMVALE 9.13 (67)
Wyndhamvale survived a final quarter North Footscray scare to claim its second Division Two Reserves premiership.
After the Falcons held a 26-point lead at the final change, North Footscray used the wind to its advantage to bring the margin back to five points, but time left on the clock was the ultimate enemy.
Scoring one goal in the contest, Wyndhamvale’s Brock Jones was awarded with the best on ground medal.
Connor McIntosh led the Falcons’ scoring with three goals, while star Devil William Koziaris put on another masterclass with four majors.
Premiers yet again, it’s a second piece of reserves silverware for the Falcons in five years, signs of a program that is certainly thriving at Wyndhamvale South Reserve.
Division Two Under 18s
SPOTSWOOD TWO 10.13 (73) def. CAROLINE SPRINGS 4.15 (39)
Spotswood is back on top of the Under 18s Division Two mountain, with the Woodsman flexing their muscles in a commanding 34-point premiership win over the Lakers.
In an early morning contest at Yarraville Oval, the Lakers and Woodsman went head-to-head in the very blustery conditions.
It was all to play for at three-quarter time, with the Lakers finding themselves in front by the narrowest of margins.
The Woodsman returned to the action hot, scoring a mammoth 5.6 (36) to 0.1 (1) to cruise to victory.
Spotswood’s Luke Vasiliadis was awarded the best on ground medal after his two-goal performance.
Woodsman Ryle Hales also found two majors in the contest.
For Caroline Springs, Bradley Podolczak, Harvey Snooks, Blake Taylor, and Benjamin Vickery all kicked one goal each.
In what has been an impressive finals campaign for both the Lakers and Woodsman, the two teams should remain proud of their efforts knowing that their exciting football careers are only just getting started.
