CAROLINE SPRINGS BOUNCE BACK

Caroline Springs bounced back from their loss last week, defeating West Footscray by 58-points at Town Centre Oval on Sunday.

The Lakers were at their defensive best, keeping their opponents scoreless up until the final quarter.

Led brilliantly by their captain Alex Fato, who kicked four goals in the win, Caroline Springs remain at the top of the Victoria University Polytechnic Senior Women’s ladder.

The result was a disappointing one for the Roosters, they have lost their past five games and after comfortably sitting in the top five, now find themselves in ninth position.

An impressive first half sealed victory for Werribee Centrals over Laverton.

Centrals kicked four goals in the opening half and kept the Magpies scoreless.

Despite winning the third quarter, Laverton couldn’t bridge the gap, losing by 27-points.

Jasmine Kaa kicked two goals in the win, while Keely Spiteri also played well.

In the closest game of the round, Braybrook defeated North Sunshine by three-points at Dempster Park.

It was a low-scoring affair, with both teams battling it out. The first goals of the game, came in the final quarter, which ensured it was a nail-bitter until the end.

The Brookers held on to score a three-point win, their fifth win of the season.

Manor Lakes defeated the Yarraville Seddon Eagles by 87-points at Yarraville Oval.

The Storm had 30 shots on goal in comparison to the Eagles’ three.

Finally, Spotswood defeated Point Cook Centrals by 118-points.

Spotswood’s fire power proved to the difference, with Caitlin Brennan and Lauren Dundon leading the way. The star duo combined for 12 goals.

Thalia Wright and Alexandra Woodhead also played well for the home side.

Jaime Nankiville was the only goal scorer for the Sharks.
