ALBANVALE PREVAIL OVER WEST FOOTSCRAY

Albanvale defeated West Footscray in a thrilling 20-point victory in Round 6 of the Rookie Me Division 3 competition.

The match was a close one, with West Footscray closing Albanvale’s 25-point lead at half time to just one point by the close of the third quarter.

However with just one point in it going into the fourth, Albanvale proved too strong, kicking five goals to West Footscray’s three.

West Footscray’s Thomas Stelluto and Albanvale’s Reece Field were their respective teams lead goal scorers, also securing themselves the position of best on ground for their sides.

Sunshine Heights moved themselves up to second on the ladder after a Round 6 win against Tarneit, defeating the team 16.10(106) to 10.9(69).

The first half of the game remained balanced, however Sunshine Heights continued to build on their each quarter. Tarneit had closed the margin from 37 to 16 by the close of the second quarter, however Sunshine Heights came out of the gate in the second half hungry for the win, scoring four goals to Tarneit’s one.

Kyall Parker was one of the best for his team, scoring five of Sunshine Heights sixteen goals. His teammate James Vella had a stunning game as well, securing the position of best on ground.

The Suns have once more solidified their position on the top of the ladder, beating Laverton 5.10(40) to 15.13(103).

Laverton came out swinging in the first half, keeping themselves in the game the whole time. However, a disappointing second half saw the Suns sail to victory, scoring nine goals to Laverton’s zero.

The usual suspects for the Suns Daniel Hovey and Dean Cachia scored ten of their team’s goals between them with seven and three a piece. Laverton had five individual goal scorers for their team, each with one goal.

The Suns will host Sunshine Heights next week in what is sure to be a thrilling top of the table clash.
