ALBION MOVE UP THE LADDER

Albion have pushed themselves into second place on the ladder after a big 11.14 (80) to 7.9 (51) victory over Sunshine in Round 8 of the WRFL Division 2 competition.

Sunshine got off to a great start, producing three more scoring opportunities than Albion, however inaccurate kicking left them in the lead by just three points going into the second quarter.

Albion came back into the game ready to fight for the win, kicking five goals to Sunshine’s two. However, the game wasn’t won until the final quarter, Albion went into the fourth with an eleven-point lead and proved to be the hungrier team, with nine scoring shots to Sunshine’s one.

Darcy McPherson put on quite a show in the match with a stellar best on ground performance, also slotting a goal for Albion. Over at Sunshine it was Noah Andruela who took out the best on ground title after a brilliant game for his team.

Wyndhamvale have handed North Footscray a massive 16.12 (108) to 5.9 (39) defeat on Saturday.

North Footscray fought gallantly to stay in the game at every quarter, however Wyndhamvale proved too strong, scoring nine goals to the devils two in the first half alone.

Wyndhamvale had ten individual goal scorers, with Jack Tessari leading the charge with three. Liam Scarborough was the standout performance for Wyndhamvale after an excellent game on the field, earning himself the best on ground title for round 8.

Parkside took down Braybrook in a thumping 27.15 (177) to 5.3 (33) defeat.

Braybrook fought hard to keep in the game, however Parkside proved yet again why they are destined for the grand final this season, outplaying their opposition at every turn.

There were fourteen goal scorers for Parkside, with the usual suspect Shaun Campbell leading the way for his team with six goals. Luca Winkel was named best on ground for Parkside after a seriously impressive game, with Akoi Akoi taking out that title for Braybrook.
