Arrow Transport WFNL 2027 Season Dates

The Western Football Netball League (WFNL) is pleased to confirm the key season dates for the 2027 football and netball seasons, providing clubs, players, officials and supporters with a roadmap for the year ahead.

With competitions spanning men’s, women’s and junior football, along with senior netball, the 2027 season promises another exciting year of community sport across the west.

Men’s Football

The 2027 men’s football season will officially commence with Thirds football on Friday, 9 April, before Senior Men’s, Reserves and Under 18 competitions get underway on Saturday, 10 April.

Several bye rounds have been scheduled throughout the season, including the King’s Birthday long weekend (11-13 June) across all men’s competitions, a school holiday bye for Thirds football (2-4 July), and a dedicated Division 1 bye on Saturday, 24 July.

The League notes that finals structures and dates for Thirds and Under 18 competitions may be adjusted once team entries and divisional alignments are finalised. Senior finals dates also remain subject to venue availability and may be played on Sundays where required.

Women’s Football

Women’s Football will begin on Saturday, 10 April, with a 16-round home and away season scheduled for 2027.

Competition byes will be held across the King’s Birthday weekend (11-13 June) and the school holiday period (2-4 July).

The structure of Senior Women’s Football, including finals formats and division arrangements, will be confirmed following team nominations in March 2027. The League has allocated four weeks for finals, with Grand Finals anticipated to be played on the weekend of Saturday, 4 September.

As part of its continued commitment to developing female football pathways, the WFNL also intends to introduce a standalone Under 19 Women’s Competition in 2027, subject to sufficient team nominations. The League will continue to engage with clubs throughout the team entry process to support the competition’s launch.

Junior Football

Junior Football competitions will commence on Sunday, 18 April.

The season schedule includes a Junior Interleague bye across the King’s Birthday weekend (11-13 June) and a school holiday bye (2-4 July).

Junior finals will be contested across a three-week series, with all Junior Grand Finals scheduled for Sunday, 22 August. Finals formats will be confirmed once club entries and grade structures have been finalised.

Senior Netball

Senior Netball will return on Friday, 16 April, with all competitions beginning simultaneously.

A split Round 5 will be scheduled across 14 May and 21 May, while a standalone competition bye will take place on 4 June ahead of the King’s Birthday bye on 11 June.

The Senior Netball finals series will continue under a Top 4 format, with all Grand Finals to be played at the State Netball Centre on Friday, 10 September.

Looking Ahead to 2027

The confirmation of season dates marks an important milestone as clubs begin planning for the year ahead across football and netball.

With the potential introduction of a standalone Under 19 Women’s competition, another full calendar of junior and senior action, and finals scheduled across August and September, the 2027 season shapes as an exciting year for the WFNL community.
