BULLDOGS WIN THRILLER AGAINST SAINTS

Point Cook have all but secured safety in TIV Division 1 after surviving a late-charge from St Albans to win by three-points in what was a thrilling game of football.
The 6.15. (51) to 7.6. (48) win puts the Bulldogs two games clear of bottom placed Sunshine with just four games remaining.
The visitors got off to the perfect start as they held the Saints scoreless in the opening term, wayward kicking the only factor in keeping the Bulldogs from growing that lead.
St Albans hit back in the second term aided by the strong wind that kept all the scoring at one end, three consecutive goals saw the sides level at half-time in a matchup that was still up for grabs.
The third term went the way of the first with Point Cook in control and St Albans held scoreless once again, but it was the fourth term that decided the game.
Despite a game-high four goals in the final quarter, it wasn’t enough as Point Cook’s ability to nab the only major either side booted when kicking into the wind proved to be the deciding factor.
Luke Denny kicked three goals in the win, with Tyrrell Lui named best on ground. For the Saints, Bol Kolang kicked a game-high four goals.
The Yarraville Seddon Eagles produced its best win of the season, upsetting Hoppers Crossing by 15-points to make it three wins on the bounce.
It is the first time the Eagles have defeated the Warriors since they became the ‘Yarraville Seddon Eagles’ back in 2007.
The Eagles kicked the final three goals – two from Blake Green and one from Brandon Lester – of the game to run over the top of the Warriors.
Sam Walker, Lester and Oscar Gordon were all outstanding.
The loss for Hoppers Crossing now sees them tied with Deer Park on the ladder, two losses in a row proving costly.
The Eagles, who are in red-hot form, will take on Deer Park in Round 15 on July 30.

A seven-goal second quarter sparked Werribee Districts incredible win against Deer Park, the 10.7. (67) to 8.13. (61) victory putting them one game clear in fifth spot.
Werribee Districts kicked one goal combined in the first and third quarters yet its miraculous second term and steadfast final quarter was enough to turn a 20-point deficit at quarter time into the six-point triumph.
Captain Daniel Schibeci led his team brilliantly. Ben McMahon and Daniel Montalto also played well.
For Deer Park, Jake McKenzie and Bailey Morrish were among the best.
Caroline Springs bounced back from its first loss of the season last week with a comfortable 14.22. (106) to 9.6. (60) win against Spotswood.
Courtenay Dempsey produced his best game of the season with a best-on ground performance as the Lakers led at each break to salute by 46-points.
Altona blitzed Sunshine with nine goals in the opening term to open up a 59-point lead at the first break.
The Vikings continued to impress thereafter, with Elliott Cavallaro and Jack Norman kicking four majors each as the home side held the Kangaroos goalless in three of the four quarters.
