CAROLINE SPRINGS CLAIM U18 WOMEN’S PREMIERSHIP

Caroline Springs are 2024 Under 18 Women’s premiers following a 34-point Grand Final victory over Point Cook.

Ahead of Saturday’s decider Point Cook had won the past three outings against Caroline Springs, but on the final day of the year the Lakers reigned supreme winning 10.6 (66) to 3.14 (32).

Caitlyn Volpe was awarded the best on ground medal after playing a starring role for Caroline Springs.

Point Cook led at quarter time, but inaccuracy plagued them early and unfortunately remained an issue for the Bulldogs all day in windy conditions at Skinner Reserve.

Caroline Springs on the other hand didn’t suffer any of the same problems and kicked five goals in the second term to put themselves 20 points up at halftime.

In the third quarter Point Cook again failed to make the most of their opportunities in front of goal, only cutting the deficit by a point after adding seven behinds to the Lakers’ lone goal.

The Lakers sewed up the result in the last courtesy of a three goal to one final term, as they the minor premiers also claimed the season’s major prize.
