CATS BIG THIRD TERM, PARKSIDE REMAIN UNDEFEATED

Albion used seven goals in the third quarter to run out comfortable 20.11. (131) to 12.12. (84) winners against West Footscray, making it three wins from four.

West Footscray kicked the opener, but it was the visitors who got the jump, finishing the term with 11 scoring shots to six to take a 20-point buffer into the first break.

The Roosters fought back in the second led by Kane Liossis and Eamonn Scott, only inaccurate kicking keeping the hosts from taking a lead at the half.

Albion snuffed out the comeback, blitzing West Footscray after the restart, a five-point margin become a match winning 45-point advantage after three quarters.

Three West Footscray goals in six minutes kept it interesting, but the Cats finished strongly and triumphed by 47-points.

Albion will head to North Footscray in Round 8 with West Footscray again at home hosting Newport.

Jesse McLellan and Jackson Lesko booted five goals each in Parkside’s dominant 56-point win against Glen Orden, continuing its perfect start to the season.

The game was over at halftime with the Magpies leading 12 goals to two, poor kicking hurting the Hawks on the road.

Parkside will host Wyndhamvale in a battle of the competition’s top two teams this Saturday while Glen Orden will hit the road again and take on Point Cook Centrals.

The Sharks sit one game from the top four thanks to a comeback win against Newport 9.4. (58) to 6.13. (49), in another disappointing second half from the visitors.

Eight second quarter goals helped Wyndhamvale to its sixth win of the season, downing North Footscray 11.9. (75) to 6.8. (44) in what was a weird second half as both teams combined for just one goal and three total scoring shots.
