CELEBRATING WOMEN IN SPORT

WOMEN IN SPORT ROUND – ROUND 5

This year the Western Region Football League is building on the Female Development Network formed in 2021.

The initiative is aimed at providing a safe and nurturing environment across the region, where women from various different fields: players, coaches, administrators, umpires, trainers; can come together to network, upskill and build personal confidence that leads to positive change and further encourages female participation in all aspects of the league.

The mission of the Network is to increase participation of girls and women on and off the field/court, provide an avenue for education and to ensure there are opportunities for advancement within clubs and throughout the league.

In 2022 we started launching our workshops, which have continued into 2023 with plenty more to come.

This weekend is a chance to celebrate and acknowledge the efforts of all women involved in our league. For all Senior Women’s, 18.5 Girls and Netball games, the umpires will award a “Women in Sport” Best on Ground Medal to the player adjudged best on the day.

For all Junior Girls games, a player from each team will be awarded a “Women in Sport” Best on Ground Medal that is decided by the Coaches.
