CENTRALS AIMING FOR FIRST WOLVES WIN

Werribee Centrals are hoping to score their first ever win over Spotswood under Friday night lights in the Victoria University Polytechnic Senior Women’s Division 1 competition.

Centrals have never been able to get over the top of the Wolves since they joined the competition in 2018, but came close in Round 2 when they lost by two points at Converse Oval.

Coach Glenn Ballard said his team took a lot of their first encounter this season and was looking forward to the challenge tonight.

“We had a team meeting straight after that game and the girls told me they learned a lot from the match,” he said.

“We are up for the challenge. Hopefully we can beat them for the first time.”

Werribee Centrals have again taken the next step in their development in 2022 and after six rounds find themselves in third spot on the ladder, on equal points with Spotswood and Caroline Springs.

Ballard believes the improvement has come from the games experience the girls have shared over the past five seasons.

“We were a very young side when we first started and now we have that games experience. The team has a few games under their belt now and that experience is really helping.

“The girls have to be switched on at all times because there isn’t any easy games in Division 1.

“We found that last week when we played Manor Lakes, it took them to the last quarter to really get going.”

Werribee Centrals will host Spotswood at Galvin Park tomorrow night. The game will kick-off at 7.30pm.
