CENTURIONS STAY UNDEFEATED AFTER ROUND 4 COMEBACK

By Kel Rowe |

In a complete about-face from the previous week’s weather, Saturday morning offered perfect conditions for footy across Round 4 of the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee Senior Women’s competition.

The top sides took advantage and continued to assert their dominance over the competition, whilst the usual suspects began to establish their poll positions in the race for league leading goal-kicker.

Saturday morning began with a huge win for the Parkside Spurs at Merv Hughes Oval, overwhelming their visitors from North Sunshine by mammoth 268-points.

Spurs spearhead Mary Sandral continued to impose inside the forward 50, bagging seven goals, whilst midfielder Taquila Angel also made the most of time in front of goals, kicking three majors for the day.

In the face of an extremely skilled and tough opposition, Kayla Court and Kiara Halley were the best performers for the Roadrunners.

In their last meeting in Round 14 last year, the pressure-cooker match between Yarraville Seddon and Werribee Centrals came down to just two goals and their first clash of 2025 was even tighter, with the Centurions fighting back from a halftime three-goal deficit to triumph by just two points at the final siren.

The reigning premiers’ turnaround was inspired by Kyleisha Kinces and Taylah Bloss, with Kinces also contributing a major in her team’s narrow win.

Eagles skipper Rachel Culvenor produced a best-on performance for her team, with teammate Cheyenne Mallia also recognised for her three-goal effort.

Caroline Springs descended upon Skinner Reserve, keeping their unbeaten run intact with a 110-point win over West Footscray.

The Roosters fought hard but were outclassed by a tight Lakers unit with Nikki Perrett (three goals) and Ashlee Wallis (two goals) producing some standout footy.

Roosters’ youngster Ruby Howe was named amongst the home side’s best, alongside teammate Laycee Covington-Gorst, who booted their lone goal, thanks to a powerful surge inside 50.

To complete the fixture for the weekend, the Suns claimed a 25-point victory over the Point Cook Centrals.

The strong Suns side held the lead for all four quarters, with Jennifer Plumb (two goals) and Zoe Court recognised for their efforts for the visitors.

Sharks’ Chloe Elkington and Emma Davis (1 goal) were solid contributors for the home side being named their top performers.
