CITY VERSUS COUNTRY
THE Western Region Football League will take on the Ovens and Murray Football League as part of next year’s WorkSafe AFL Victoria Community Championships
AFL Victoria released the Community Championships fixture this afternoon, with the WRFL scheduled to compete against the country league on May 19.
Ovens and Murray will host the Seniors and Under 19 clash. A venue is yet to be decided.
Earlier this year the WRFL was defeated by the Northern Football Netball League. The Ovens and Murray League scored a win, defeating Goulburn Valley by seven-points.
AFL Victoria Community Football Development Manager Stephen O’Donohue said the event is a terrific opportunity for community players to be able to showcase their skills.
“The WorkSafe AFL Victoria Community Championships has fast become one of the most anticipated events on the community football calendar, with the opportunity for players to represent their league continuing to be a highlight for footballers in grass root competitions across the state,” he said.
More information surrounding the WRFL’s clash with Ovens and Murray will be released in coming months.
