COBRAS STORM HOME
By LEO MULLALY
It was a fourth-quarter blitz from Albanvale that clenched them a 16-point victory over Braybrook at Robert Bruce Oval in the Alan Mance Motors Division 3 competition.
The home side started strongly, booting six goals to one in the opening quarter.
However, Braybrook’s response was resounding, as the Brookers managed to kick eight out of the next 11 goals.
The ascendency shifted once again, as the Cobras slammed seven goals to three in the final quarter, proving why they’re a top-two side.
Liam Montrose nailed four goals for the Cobras, combining with Nathan Johnson (three goals) and Brock McLarty (three goals)
McLarty was recognised as best afield for his performance, with Daniel Backus and Daniel Montrose contributing solidly.
For the visitors, Nicholas Gregson, and Ricky Howell both registered three goals, while Nicholas Papakalodoukas was also superb.
Braybrook have the bye next week, whereas Albanvale face Sunshine Heights.
The Dragons soar to third place, overtaking Braybrook with a 198-point win over Laverton.
There were 16 different goal-scorers for the Dragons in an emphatic team performance.
William Tsam, Jacob Poa and Colby Blyth were among the standouts in the victory.
Laverton will be looking for their third win against a winless North Sunshine next week.
It was an improved effort from North Sunshine this week, challenging Tarneit for the best part of three quarters.
Tarneit’s class proved too much, with Benjamin Arabit critical in the side’s triumph.
Ryan Potter’s four-goal haul was also influential for Tarneit.
Tarneit will come up against the Suns next week, as the Suns will be looking to continue their charge for top spot.
