COBRAS WIN THRILLER, MAGPIES SCORE FIRST WIN
By LEO MULLALY
Albanvale has clinched another thrilling victory, this time defeating Sunshine Heights by two points at Ainsworth Reserve in the Alan Mance Motors Division 3 competition.
The Cobras found themselves trailing at both quarter time and three-quarter time, but a four goal to two last term was enough for the win.
Sunshine Heights will rue missed chances in the first half, having had three more scoring shots than the Cobras for the game.
Reece Duffield has continued his strong start to the season, awarded best on ground for Albanvale and appearing in the best in every match so far this season.
His efforts, combined with the performances from Dalwinder Mundi and Matthew Taylor, were crucial in their side’s triumph.
For Sunshine Heights, Elliot Rosado sustained his outstanding 2022 form, slotting three majors and adjudged best on ground for the Dragons.
Sunshine Heights will be looking to rebound strongly this week, with an enthralling match up against Braybrook lined up.
The Cobras will move to face North Sunshine, who are still winless after a four-goal loss to Laverton.
A seven-goal third term for the Magpies took charge of the game, as Brent Taylor kicked four goals and Soni Rainbow managed three of his own.
Matthew Grigg was superb for Laverton in their first win of the 2022 season.
The challenge doesn’t get any easier for Laverton though, as they look to take on the in-form Suns.
The Suns cruised to an 83-point win over Tarneit, as Lucas Andrew and Dean Cachia were dominant.
The pair booted eight goals between them and were the Suns best players alongside Gabriel Ndaisaba.
Both the Suns and Cobras will be focused on remaining undefeated next week, while Tarneit have the week off with the bye.
