COMMUNITY UMPIRING WEEK 2022

This week is Community Umpiring Week with the aim to encourage people to get involved in umpiring Australian Football at the community level.

Throughout the week, May 6-13, the AFL will be celebrating Community Umpiring through a number of initiatives:

  • AFL Umpires will attend community Club training sessions
  • Umpires at each AFL match this weekend will be led onto the ground by community umpires

WRFL Umpires Cooper Johnstone, Blake Morison, Will Laverick, Owen Sayer, Grace Murray and Bryson Magro will all walk out alongside AFL Umpires in Sunday’s match between Carlton and Adelaide at Marvel Stadium.

The five umpires will then be involved in the grid games at half-time.

Several AFL Umpires will also get involved with WRFL Training next week as part of the week’s scheduled activities across Melbourne.

It isn’t too late to become an Umpire in the WRFL. We are always on the hunt for people of all ages to join the league.
