DEVILS WIN, BROOKERS OVERCOME BULLDOGS
Braybrook Whitten shot 11 goals to Point Cook Blue’s six in the final quarter to score a come from behind victory in Round 3 of the Victoria University WRFL Netball Competition.
Goal shooters Helena Samardzija and Belinda Crank combined well for Braybrook, outscoring the reigning premiers 23 goals to 12 in the second half.
The win was Braybrook Whitten’s second of the season, positioning them in third place on the Division 1 ladder.
Sunshine 1 continued their winning ways, defeating Point Cook Centrals 2 39-20.
Sunshine’s first half was impressive. They headed into half-time holding onto a 17-goal lead. Casey Smart and Natalie Vercher played well for the Kangaroos.
Point Cook Centrals 1 good form also continued, defeating Spotswood 60-23.
Goal Shooter Rebecca Hicks shot 52 of Point Cook Centrals 1 60 goals.
The Sharks currently sit in first place on the ladder.
North Footscray scored their first win of 2019, defeating Braybrook Priest by 12 goals on Friday night.
A 19 to 7 first half sealed victory for the Devils, with mid-court player Sarah Bates providing her team with plenty of run.
Point Cook Red won their second match after victory over North Sunshine in a high scoring game.
The final score was 48-34.
Stacey Grant was in great form in the goal ring, shooting 35 goals.
In Division 2, Spotswood Green won their third consecutive match after winning against Albion 46-22.
Spotswood shot 19 goals in the first quarter, the most of any other team in a first quarter this round.
Ladder leaders Braybrook Hawkins defeated Glen Orden Gold by just six-goals. Sunshine 2 defeated Point Cook White 40-32 and finally Manor Lakes scored their first win of the season, defeating Glen Orden Brown 39-21.
