EAGLES SOAR WHILE SPURS MAKE WINNING START

Temperatures were high and the top sides brought the heat on Saturday, as Round 2 of St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee Senior Women’s competition played out across the West.

To start the day, Caroline Springs went two from two, securing a 137-point win over Wyndhamvale.

The Laker’s outfit were too strong, out-muscling the home side with Jacinta Kondis (5 goals) and Nikki Perret (4 goals) leading the charge in front of the big sticks.

Rachael Burton and Rachael Sherriff were amongst the best for the Falcons.

North Sunshine welcomed the Suns to Dempster Park — the visiting side walking away victors after booting 27 goals for the day.

Liz Mercieca and Ricki-Lee McConnell fought hard for the Roadrunners, whilst Mandy Seath (7 goals) starred for the Suns, kicking her 200th career goal in the process, with Kayla Stavreski was also instrumental.

West Footscray took a trip down to the Maribyrnong but were no match for the footy smarts of their hosts Parkside Spurs with the visitors going down to the experienced side by 118-points.

Ex-Essendon VFLW standout Ruby Mahony playing her first game for the Spurs, and Natalie Pearce were damaging through the middle of the ground for their team.

Kaila Ducret and Bo Crabtree worked hard under pressure for the Roosters.

To round out the day, Yarraville Seddon took on Point Cook Centrals at Yarraville Oval, with the Eagles executing a 136-point win over the visiting Sharks.

Former AFLW player Phoebe McWilliams had a day out bagging a whopping nine-goal haul and was well-supported by the efforts of Cheyenne Mallia.

Sharks’ skipper Emma Davis was the sole scorer for her side and was named in best alongside teammate Natasha Salisbury.
