EXCITING SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE

Point Cook Centrals 1 will head into the Victoria University WRFL Netball Division 1 Finals Series undefeated, having won all their home and away games.

The Sharks didn’t have it all their own way in the final round on Friday night, winning by just six goals against Braybrook Whitten.

Up by a goal at three quarter time, Point Cook Centrals shot 13 goals to eight in the final quarter to win 47-41.

Olivia Burrow and Rebecca Hicks led the way for the ladder-leaders, while Helena Samardzija was among the best for Braybrook Whitten.

Point Cook Red ended their season on a high note defeating fourth placed Sunshine 1 by eight goals.

It was a consistent four quarter performance from the Bulldogs, with their defence standing up under great pressure.

Fifth placed Spotswood Gold won their Round 14 game against Braybrook Priest. It was Spotswood’s eighth win of 2019.

An impressive third quarter shooting display was the difference, with Jane Matthews and Megan Cleary combining for 14 goals.

In Division 2, it was the battle of Glen Orden in the final round, with Glen Orden Gold and Glen Orden Brown battling it out.

It was an even contest for most of the match, however it was Glen Orden Gold who edged out in-front in the final term, winning 41-36.

Manor Lakes, in their inaugural netball season, finished the year off in second spot on the ladder, having defeated Point Cook White in the final round.

Jaquie Christie and Janine Long both played well for the winners.

Spotswood Green also scored their 13th win on Friday night after defeating Braybrook Hawkins 34-16.

Spotswood Green will head into the finals series full of confidence having lost just the one game throughout the season.

In the final game of the round, Sunshine 2 defeated Albion 42-23.
