FALCONS AND PANTHERS MOVE THROUGH TO SEMIS

Newport and Wyndhamvale have advanced to Division 2 Senior Men’s Semi Finals after comfortable Elimination Final wins on the weekend.

Saturday’s match between Wyndhamvale and Albanvale ended the same as their previous two encounters this season with the Falcons dominating the Cobras to win 20.24 (144) to 1.3 (9).

Wyndhamvale jumped out of the blocks with a nine-goal opening quarter which set them on the path to a big win while bringing an end to Albanvale’s season.

The Falcons finished with 12 multiple goal kickers in the route with Daniel Burns and Jack Tessari contributing four and three majors respectively.

Kyle Bistisi, Tyler Tessari and Max Logan were the Wyndhamvale’s best with the Brendan Cassar, Jacob Maschewski and Darren Borg the top performers for Albanvale.

Wyndhamvale will now take on Newport in the first Semi Final after the Panthers defeated the Suns 14.16 (100) to 4.2 (26) in their opening final on Sunday.

Newport also started strongly but could have led by more at quarter time had it not been for some inaccurate goal kicking.

However, the Panthers made the most of their chances after the first, adding 9.7 to the Suns’ 4.2 over the next three terms.

Munir Elhouli, Hussein Hasna, Abdul Jawad and Jawad Jawad all kicked two goals with Trent Rafferty, Heath Rafferty, and Kamal Badra the key contributors for Newport.

The Suns were best served by Brandon Donald, Kyle De Rose and Joshua Foster in their final outing of the year.

Coach and key forward Dean Cachia, who the Suns announced will step away from coaching duties next season, was the only multiple goal kicker for his outfit with two majors.

In Division 2 Reserves Elimination Finals Albion were far too good for Albanvale while the Suns had a narrow-two-point win against Wyndhamvale after trailing by a goal at three quarter time.

Albion and the Suns will now meet in the First Semi Final with top sides Sunshine and Newport playing off in the Second Semi Final.

Meanwhile, in Division 2 Under 18 games West Foostcray comfortably downed Point Cook Centrals in the Qualifying Final to set up a clash with minor premiers Sunshine.

The Sharks will now face Werribee Districts who ended Yarraville Seddon’s season with a 14-point Elimination Final victory over the Eagles.
