New Wyndhamvale coach Luke Wenlock says footy fans should expect to see an aggressive cohesive team in 2021.

Wenlock, who has taken over the coaching reins from Chris Moreland this season, says we should expect to see not a lot of difference to the team we saw compete in the Division 2 decider in 2019.

“We have approached pre-season pretty slowly,” Wenlock admitted.

“We have had a real emphasis on having fun and enjoying one another’s company. We started slowly to avoid soft tissue injuries after the long lay-off.”

Wenlock said after a year off due to Covid-19, it was good to be back around the club again.

“I missed the contact with players, supporters and committee members the most,” he said.

“Over winter you are seeing these people two-to-three times a week so having that back is terrific.”

Wyndhamvale will take on Parkside at Wyndhamvale South Oval in Round 1 of the Prestige Group Real Estate Division 2 competition on April 10.

For Wyndhamvale’s Senior Women’s Coach Craig Prior, the year off was a chance to re-charge the batteries.

“To be honest the year off was not that bad,” he said.

“It was a chance to recharge and come back this year energised and ready to go.

“With pretty much an entire new side, the focus for us has been fun and learning new skills with a lot of the side never having played before.”

Prior said his goal this season was for the girls to have fun and for them to learn more about the game.

“If we can be competitive with the sides around us and maybe get a win on the board we’ll be happy,” he said.

Wyndhamvale will begin their 2021 Victoria University Polytechnic Senior Women’s campaign against Laverton on the weekend of April 16.
