FIVE NETBALL PREMIERS CROWNED ON FIRST GRAND FINAL NIGHT

Night 1 of the WFNL’s Senior Netball Grand Finals saw thrilling matches and unforgettable performances across five divisions with supporters being treated to a showcase of skill, strategy, and exceptional teamwork.

The highlight was Glen Orden’s phenomenal performance across multiple divisions. Under the expert guidance of coach Rebecca Hicks, the Hawks collected three premierships from a possible four, coming out on top in close matches in Division 5 against Parkside and Division 6 against Braybrook, while winning impressively in their Division 3 decider with Caroline Springs.  Already an extraordinary achievement, Glen Orden have the chance to add a further two premierships when they contest the Division 1 and Division 2 Grand Finals.

The first of five games completed last Friday was the Division 4 Grand Final in which Point Cook emerged victorious over Glen Orden, the Hawks’ only losing effort of the night. The Bulldogs demonstrating a perfect blend of defence and attack with the final scoreline reflecting their dominance. The result was a testament to their preparation and the tactical acumen instilled by coached Peta Kortum whose efforts helped deliver back-to-back premierships for the club following last year’s Division 5 triumph.

Braybrook stole the spotlight in Division 7 defeating Suns Rising in one of three matches that was decider by four goals or less. The clash was a seesawing affair with both individual brilliance and cohesive team effort but in the end some impressive Braybrook defence combined with a dynamic attacking strategy saw their hard work in 2024 pay off, as the capped off a fantastic season with the ultimate prize.
