GARNER WINS AFLW MVP AWARD

Former WRFL junior Jasmine Garner has been rewarded for her impressive AFLW season by being named the AFL Players Association AFLW MVP on Monday.

The North Melbourne star moved to the midfield in 2020, averaging 20.1 disposals and 1.1 goals per game, with the peer voted award capping off another big year.

She received 413 votes, in second place was Carlton young gun Madison Prespakis on 227 votes.

Garner played football with the Yarraville Seddon Eagles as a junior before going on to play with Braybrook for a brief stint and St Albans.

“I’m truly proud to be recognised by the AFLW players’ as their MVP,” Garner told the AFLW website.

“The AFLW competition has come so far in such a short space of time. All the players have put their heart and soul into performing, so for the cohort to value my contribution this highly is something I won’t forget.”
