KANGAROOS AND FALCONS PICK UP IMPORTANT WINS

5th placed Wyndhamvale would host 2nd placed Albion, with the Falcons looking to earn a spot in the top four whilst the Cat would look to solidify a top two spot in the Division 2 Seniors competition.

Wyndhamvale went into quarter time with a one-point lead and would lead at the end of every quarter running out fifteen-point winners. The contest remained tight throughout the match, with both teams battling relentlessly to gain control. Wyndhamvale’s Aaron Mould stood out as the best performer for his team. Whilst Albion’s Darcy McPherson would once again be named in the Cat’s best.

Jack Tessari led the charge for the Falcons and proved to be a handful for the Cat’s defence continuing his goal-scoring prowess as he slotted three majors. Christopher Tomazos would go on to kick two goals for the Cats.

Wyndhamvale will look to continue their winning ways as they travel to Braybrook next Saturday, whilst Albion will be licking their wounds with their upcoming bye before taking on Parkside in Round 14 in a top-of-the-table clash.

Sunshine would host Newport as both teams looked to solidify a top four spot themselves. A six-goal to three first half from the Kangaroos would put them in the driver’s seat with twenty-two-point lead, but a third quarter comeback from the Panthers to reduce the margin to seven points would set up an exciting last quarter. The Kangaroos however would kick away in the first quarter winning the game by twenty-one points.

Newport’s Salahudin Saaoud proved to be a standout for Newport, with support from teammates Jack Papachatzakis & Nayef Hamad kicking four and two goals respectively. For the Kangaroos, it would be multiple options up forward with Mathew Medcraft kicking three in a best-on-ground performance for his team, being well supported by Charly Williams, Nicholas McKay and Declan Moloney who all kicked two.

Sunshine now faces another big test hosting ladder leaders Parkside next week, whilst Newport will look to bounce back against North Footscray.

North Footscray would secure their first win in front of their home crowd this season after a hard-fought win over Braybrook.

Matthew Serafin and William Kozlaris would kick five and three goals respectively, leading the Devils to a nine goal to three second half. David Allitt would be named best on the ground for the Devils. For the Brookers, Jake Warwick, Liam McGarity, and Nathan Spackman would fight gallantly named in the best.
