WRFL STATEMENT
Following a spectator altercation that occurred at Langshaw Reserve Altona North last Saturday July 2, the WRFL Board has today applied the following penalties to the competing clubs (Newport FC and Wyndhamvale FC respectively) for bringing the League into disrepute (WRFL by-law 6.7):
- Senior & Reserve teams of both clubs each stripped of four (4) Premiership Points.
- A $2,500 fine for both clubs.
The investigation pertaining to individuals involved remains ongoing.
These sanctions should serve as notice to all clubs and supporters that the WRFL Board will act promptly and decisively in its efforts to eliminate condemnable acts the likes of which occurred on Saturday, whether culprits involved are directly/formally affiliated with their respective club or otherwise.
The League acknowledges and appreciates the full and ongoing cooperation of both clubs involved.
