LIBERATORE & HUNTER SET FOR GRAND FINAL

Two former WRFL juniors will play-off in Saturday’s AFL Grand Final.

Tom Liberatore (St Bernard’s) and Lachie Hunter (Williamstown Juniors) will be aiming to win their second premiership with the Western Bulldogs when they take on Melbourne in the 2021 decider.

The talented duo had decorated junior careers in the WRFL, with their success continuing at the elite level.

Liberatore played approximately 145 games in the WRFL, winning three premierships.

He was a part of St Bernard’s 2004 Under 12 Division 1, 2006 Under 14 Division 1 and 2008 Under 16 Division 1 Premierships.

Since being drafted to the Bulldogs as a father son selection in 2010, Liberatore has played 172 AFL games and has won the club’s most prestigious award, the Charles Sutton Medal.

He was an integral member of their 2016 premiership team and will again play a key role in Saturday’s big game.

Like Liberatore, Hunter also had a junior WRFL career many would envy.

Hunter played in three premierships with Williamstown Juniors. He was part of their 2005 Under 11 Division 1, 2008 Under 14 Division 1 and 2009 Under 16 Division 1 Premierships.

The talented junior was also a joint league Under 12 Division 1 Best & Fairest winner in 2006 and represented the WRFL at Junior Interleague level in 2009.

Since joining the Western Bulldogs, also as a father son selection in 2012, Hunter claimed the Charles Sutton Medal in 2018 and was a premiership player five years ago.

Mitch Wallis, a former St Bernard’s junior, will also be involved with the Bulldogs camp, having played six games this season. Buku Khamis from St Albans also made his debut with the Bulldogs this year.

Majak Daw, the former Wyndhamvale junior, was rookie listed by Melbourne in 2021 and will also be a part of the Demons preparation.
