Shaun Campbell’s four goals and best on ground performance helped guide Parkside to a come from behind 12-point win against Newport.
The visitors got the jump early with the two goals, but Parkside wrestled back control to take a one-point buffer into the first break.
Buoyed by the home crowd, the hosts won the second quarter and took nine-point lead into half-time.
Newport kicked the first two majors of the third term to stretch its lead to four goals, but two late goals to the ladder-leaders turned out to be an ominous sign.
The Magpies owned the fourth quarter, its status as premiership favourites highlighted by Campbell’s dominant performance as his side ran out 9.12. (66) to 11.12. (78) winners.
The Magpies host Glen Orden in Round 7 in the game of the round.
Albion scored it’s second win of the season, defeating the Sharks. On the back of a dominant first half that saw the home side record 17 scoring shots to Point Cook Centrals six.
The Cats had 10 individual goal kickers in the 13.16. (94) to 7.9. (51) win that puts them one game outside the top four.
The Sharks will look to bounce back this week when they battle Newport in a must-win game for both sides, Albion will head to West Footscray next.
Seven goals to two in the second half saw Wyndhamvale turn a 17-point half time deficit into a 15-point win against Glen Orden.
The 11.11. (77) to 9.8. (62) victory puts the Falcons now a game ahead of the Hawks in second place.
Wyndhamvale will next host North Footscray.
David Allitt’s seven majors was the highlight of North Footscray’s dominant 19.19. (133) to 5.7. (37) thumping of rivals West Footscray.
