WFNL Match of the Day heads to Kindersmith Reserve for a contest between Sunshine and Albion.
With the Cats looking to continue their finals push and the Kangaroos eyeing off a rise up the ladder, Saturday’s battle should be captivating football.
After going down by four points against Hoppers Crossing in last weekend’s thriller, Sunshine will be out hoping it doesn’t encounter a fifth-straight defeat.
Albion finds itself fourth on the ladder after winning four-straight. A win would certainly keep the Cats on track for September action, with Hoppers Crossing and Caroline Springs hot on their heel.
Some of the league’s best ball possessors will be on display on Saturday.
Albion’s Joshua Bench ranks #2 in the competition for disposals per game with an average of 31 and is on a hot streak after tallying 36 touches in his past two outings.
Xavier Kardachi is of similar feat for the Kangaroos.
Averaging 30 possessions a match, Kardachi is another of the league’s best, ranking #5 in TIV Division One.
In addition to his impressive ball-getting skill, Kardachi leads the goalkicking for Sunshine and has contributed to the scoreboard in each appearance this year.
He’ll create some work for Albion’s backline, but the Cats will look to take control strongly through one of their own.
Star Cat Daniel Rosenzweig will be another player on the field who has struck through the big sticks each week, with 44 goals placing him third in the league’s goalkicking competition.
Rosenzweig hauled a bag of six majors in Anzac Day’s contest between Albion and Sunshine.
It was Albion who was victorious in that clash by 22 points.
The last time Sunshine took bragging rights over Albion was back in the 2024 Division Two Grand Final.
Will this be the time when the Kangaroos finally gets over the Cats, or will Albion’s dominance continue?
