A top-of-the-table clash will highlight Saturday’s WFNL Match of the Day, with Parkside (2nd, 9-3) and Yarraville-Seddon (1st, 11-1) set to battle it out at Merv Hughes Oval.
When the sides last met in round one, it was a 13-point thrilling victory that went the Eagles’ way.
Yarraville-Seddon will be hoping they can produce another win against Parkside in this early final preview.
Star Eagle, Isaac Kaddour, kicked a season-best four goals in round one’s clash and has conjured up a further 14 to his tally.
He’ll shape up as a strong goalkicking talent to hit the field for the Eagles alongside Brodie Catania, who also has been a trustworthy man in front of goal with 21 majors.
Parkside also has some fine goalkickers who will look to match the Eagles’ efforts.
Last weekend saw a six-goal haul for Magpie Zachary Morris, who became the first player in this 2026 TIV Division One season to reach the half-century, while Tom Condon has also proven strong with 32.
Parkside will be eyeing off a return to the winners list after they went down to Albion by 19 points.
The Magpies were well and truly in the contest against the Cats last week with the scores level at the final change, but a last-quarter surge from their opposition was the decisive factor.
Yarraville-Seddon, however, is after a tenth-straight win after shrugging off Point Cook by 77 points, leaving the red, yellow and gold singing their song every week since round four.
Western Jets superstar Griffin Barker made his first senior appearance for the Eagles since last year’s preliminary final and stood out with 28 disposals.
If selected for this weekend, he’ll certainly be one to watch, with Darcy Grieves another to observe after tallying 106 possessions from the last three weeks.
But Parkside won’t give up without a fight.
Led by Bruno Laguda who has 27-touch averages, the Magpies will be eager to get ahead early and stamp some authority on this game.
With the race to September heating up, a win in this top-of-the-table contest would certainly put the league on notice.
