MIDSEASON DRAFT HOPEFULS
The AFL has announced a final list of eligible players who have nominated for tonight’s NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.
More than 300 players from across Australia nominated for the draft, with 15 Rookie list spots currently available across all clubs.
The WRFL’s most promising prospects are Point Cook duo Cameron Kizan & Joshua Kuppen.
Kizan was last year named in the Under 18 Vic Metro Squad after a stellar season with the Western Jets. and has had a decorated junior career in the WRFL, having won five junior premierships and Under 15 Division 1 Best Player at Interleague. Kizan, a 2023 VFL Representative for the Footscray Bulldogs, has made his Senior Debut for Point Cook this season, being named in the best multiple times.
Kuppen, known as the Barometer at Saltwater Reserve, has had a decorated junior career in his own right, playing over 130 games for Point Cook, winning the 2014 Under 11 Division 3 Best & Fairest as well as three junior premierships. In that time, Kuppen also represented the WRFL at Interleague and the Western Jets, winning their Best Clubman award in 2021.
Kizan & Kuppen are hoping to follow in the footsteps of former teammate Massimo D’Ambrosio from Point Cook & Kallan Dawson from Williamstown Juniors, who were selected by Essendon & North Melbourne respectively in last year’s Midseason Draft.
Other WRFL players who have nominated for the draft include Mutaz El Nour (Richmond), Ben Ronke (Carlton), Jaelin Pavlidis (GWS Giants), Archi Manton (Port Melbourne) and Oskar Manton (Port Melbourne) also nominated for the draft. The five have previously been linked to the WRFL, either as a Junior or Senior player.
